James Carville, the Ragin' Cajun was in Calgary last night for a private dinner and conversation with invited guests at Teatro Restaurant. There were numerous calls back and forth all day between me, my editor and his "people" if we could get a portrait of him for the Globe and Mail. I drove across town three times to get the lights and background that I would need. Andy my assistant and I showed up three hours early to scout out a location, set up and be at the ready. His "people" called and they said it wasn't going to happen. "No" was the simple answer. We went with Plan A, and we ready for his arrival. Somehow, he was talked into coming to the back of the restaurant for a quick photo and there he stood, on my fresh white backdrop, underneath my dangling beauty dish and click. I got 9 frames and he walked off set. Thanks for your time Mr. Carville, I am glad that we met.
